Inspired by Hollywood, filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who started the trend of creating movie universes in Indian cinema, has films that audiences eagerly await. Rohit’s Cop Universe, which includes Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi, is quite popular among the audience. The Golmaal film series also has a massive fan following. However, news of Rohit’s next project has surfaced, and this time, he is not working with Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, or Ranveer Singh.

Rohit Shetty’s next film will star actor John Abraham

According to a report by peepingmoon.com, Rohit Shetty’s next film will star actor John Abraham. It will also be a cop film, but instead of being fictional, it will be based on reality. Rohit will work with John Abraham on a biopic of Mumbai’s former Police Commissioner, Rakesh Maria. It is reported that Rohit Shetty will begin shooting for this film with John in March. The title of the film has not been finalized yet. In this cop film, John will play the role of Maria.

It is important to note that Maria was involved in some of the country’s most sensitive and high-risk cases. The report mentions that the film will be based on Rakesh Maria’s 2020 memoir, Let Me Say It Now. The film is currently in the pre-production stage, and shooting will begin in mid-March.

It is said that Rohit Shetty wants to finish this film by June this year. The director’s plan is to complete the film within a 45-day shooting schedule without any interruptions. After this film, Shetty will shoot the next season of Khatron Ke Khiladi, and afterward, he will begin working on Golmaal 5, which may start production in early next year.

Notably, this will not be the first time John plays a real-life character in a film. Previously, he portrayed Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in Nikhil Advani’s Batla House. Additionally, his upcoming project, The Diplomat, is also based on the life of JP Singh, who was India’s former Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad and played a crucial role in Uzma Ahmed’s return to India in 2017.
